If you’re new to flying, then you might be feeling a bit intimidated by the idea of going through airport security. However, so long as you keep some simple tips in mind as you prepare for your trip to or from an Apple Valley, Victorville, Hesperia, or Adelanto area airport, you’ll be through security and waiting at your gate in no time.

Give Yourself Lots of Time

First of all, realize that lines for airline security can get quite long, especially during peak times of the day (in the late afternoon and evening). So if you have a flight scheduled for peak times, make sure you arrive early, so you have plenty of time to get through security and make it to your gate, even if there are delays. Consider booking an airline shuttle, such as one from High Desert Shuttle, to help you get there on time.

Have Paperwork On-Hand

You can speed through the line a lot more quickly by simply having all your identification ready. Usually, this includes a form of identification and your boarding pass, plus a passport if you’re traveling outside of the country. Keep these readily available in a zipper pocket or even on a neck lanyard so you don’t hold up the line when a TSA agent asks you for them.

Dress for Success

You’ll want to dress as simply as possible when you go through airline security. If possible, avoid wearing a belt or other accessories with metal that could set off metal detectors. Also, because you’ll be asked to take off your shoes, wearing a pair of slip-on will also make your life a lot easier.

Check Your Electronics

Any electronics you don’t need on you during the flight should be checked rather than placed in your carry-on baggage. After all, electronics must be removed from your bags and scanned separately when you go through security, which can add a lot of time and hassle. Aside from your cell phone and maybe a tablet or laptop, try to check any other electronics you’ve brought.
